Theoretically, with more desalination stages and further optimization, such systems could reach overall efficiency levels as high as 700 or 800 percent, Zhang says. Unlike some desalination systems, there is no accumulation of salt or concentrated brines to be disposed of.
Conclusions Desalination-based solar energy is a particularly good choice in isolated or distant places with a scarcity of fresh water and a high potential for solar energy due to the high cost of or absence of connection to the power grid. This paper provides an overview of the main components of water desalination processes.
Here we elaborately fabricated solar distillation devices based on reverse-evaporating water layers of millimetre-scale thickness and successfully realized simultaneous high efficiency and salt rejection during solar desalination processes.
