Distribution network voltage variations caused by PV power fluctuations are solved. Distribution network has high penetrations of PV power generation systems. A primary concern of the large-scale application of photovoltaic (PV) power systems in distribution networks is nodal voltage fluctuations caused by active power fluctuations of PV.
As a result of this, (Kouveliotis-Lysikatos et al., 2019) develops a bi-level fully distributed voltage control scheme for distribution networks. This scheme only needs local voltage information, thus it can significantly reduce the dependence on communication systems.
5. Conclusions Due to the intermittent power generation of distributed PV systems and the spatiotemporal uncertainty of uncontrolled EV charging, the accelerating grid penetration of EVs and PVs brings in severe voltage deviations and voltage fluctuations.
The PV systems and EVs act as supplementary voltage regulation resources. The PV systems are always grid-connected, and their voltage regulation capability is achieved using the device-level reactive power control, with the control range mainly determined by the operating power level (and hence the solar irradiation level).
