The proposed microgrid system comprises different power generators (PV, WTG, and DG/BDG), converters and batteries for energy storage. During night, when PV power is not available, the battery bank gives power to the load. However, if both PV and batteries storage system are not sufficient to fulfill the demand, then grid mains provides extra power. Therefore, for the given microgrid the power purchased from the grid is considered for both the batteries.
The results provide the feasibility and economic benefits of LI battery over the LA battery. The levelized cost of electricity are found to be ₹ 10.6 and ₹ 6.75 for LA and LI batteries respectively for energy storage application in the microgrid. Microgrid comprises renewable power generators with the battery storage system as power backup.
In this paper, a battery monitoring system based on IoT has been developed to monitor the operational and performance of batteries in a smart microgrid system. The system includes a battery pack, PV system, Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) hybrid inverter, grid connection, and electricity load.
Microgrid comprises renewable power generators with the battery storage system as power backup. In case of grid-connected microgrid, energy storage medium has considerable impact on the performance of the microgrid. Lithium-ion (LI) and lead-acid (LA) batteries have shown useful applications for energy storage system in a microgrid.
A smart microgrid consists of a battery pack, PV system, Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) hybrid inverter, grid connection, and electricity load. The IoT developed in this work includes a communication channel from and to IED, data acquisition algorithm, cloud system, and Human Machine Interface (HMI).
