Nischal Agarwal, partner at CIP, said: “CIP's latest investments in Scottish battery energy storage will support the UK's pursuit of a clean power system by 2030 and delivering a net zero carbon economy by 2050.
battery energy storage system (BESS) projects under development in the UK. There's plenty of wind in Scotland and a large and growing fleet of offshore and onshore wind farms, producing significant amounts of green electricity. But a large part of the demand is much further south, particularly around London, southeast England, and the Midlands.
As a result, the total European large-scale battery storage capacity stood at just 10.8GW at the end of last year, according to Aurora Energy Research, including 4.5GW in the UK, which has been the most attractive destination for investment.
