Free QuoteConverting a golf cart from lead acid batteries to lithium batteries is more affordable than you might think. I've had several golf carts over the years and my main complaint is having to maintain and replace lead acid batteries after at the end of their usable life (which is about 2-5yrs costing $1k-$1500).
A 48 volt lithium golf cart battery costs around $2600. There are few items that increase the total cost of a golf cart battery, and it's important to understand each one's role in the overall pricing structure. The more batteries you're replacing, the higher the overall cost.
Additionally, one of the benefits of lead acid batteries is actually their weight. 4 or 6 deep cycle batteries keeps the center of gravity low on carts and makes it hard to tip them unlike gas and lithium carts but that is more of a concern for rental fleets and not personal carts.
Most batteries should have a voltage rating listed on them. Just multiply the voltage of the batteries by the number of batteries in the bank and you'll get your rated voltage. Ex: Eight 6V batteries would be a 48V system.
Lithium delivers the same amount of power throughout the entire discharge cycle, but lead acid batteries start out strong, but the power decreases throughout the discharge cycle. – The price is about the same for comparable range, however you can increase the range by adding more batteries.
Now Allied is pushing 2- 48 volt battery packages. When these started having issues, they want you to add a 3rd battery. They claim it's due to controllers being turned up on non fleet carts. Best to avoid this company right now. Carts that I have installed these batteries in that have no issues, they work well and people like them.
